Hygiene — The Foundation of Great Sex

We have already mentioned hygiene as a basic rule in the context of pleasuring your partner, but in general, lack of hygiene in a sexual activity is a big problem. It is also entirely within your control.

Hands

If they are not clean, this can cause infections in the vagina. Wash your hands before any sexual activity — no exceptions. This is the simplest and most important rule, and it is one that far too many people overlook.

Body Odor

You are used to your own smell and do not notice it yourself, but for your partner the scent will affect the experience differently. If you walked around for hours and sweated before the session, your body will carry that with it — and your partner will feel it. A shower before an intimate encounter is not a luxury. It is a baseline of respect.

Perfume and Scent

Before sexual activity it is important to take a shower, and it is advisable to use fragrance gently — deodorant, aftershave, or light perfume. Over-perfuming attacks the sense of smell and steals attention. The goal is to be accompanied by a pleasant scent, not to overwhelm.

Always consider that your partner may not particularly like the fragrance you have chosen, so make sure the smell does not take over. Come to a possible sexual encounter clean, with a delicate scent.

Breath

No one in the world is attracted to bad breath. Refresh your breath before the session and try to avoid foods known to produce bad breath — fresh onions, garlic, and curry. A familiar remedy for refreshing the odor of the mouth is eating fresh parsley. Keep mints or gum accessible. This is a small detail with an enormous impact.

The Setting

If you are hosting, take care of a clean and fairly organized home. This is the minimum necessary — the basis for everything else. Clean and fresh bed sheets contribute greatly to the atmosphere, more than you can imagine.

The need for proper hygiene and cleanliness applies, of course, to both parties. Great sex begins before the bedroom.
